Lahore: Vice Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Dr. Adil Najam has become part of Journal of Human Development and Capabilities’ (JHDC) Editorial Advisory Board.
JHDC is a leading scholarly journal for development policy published by the Taylor and Francis group.
Apart from Dr. Najam, the Editorial Advisory Board includes major development policy scholars including Martha Nussbaum (University of Chicago), Gustav Ranis (Yale Univeristy), Amartya Sen (Harvard University), Frances Stewart (University of Oxford), Nancy Birsall (Center for Global Development), Sakiko Fukada-Parr (The New School), Bina Agarwal (Univeristy of Delhi), Sudhir Anand (University of Oxford), and Jeni Klugman (World Bank).
The peer-reviewed Journal publishes original work in economics, philosophy, social sciences and other disciplines that expand concepts, measurement tools and policy alternatives. It addresses issues at global, national and local levels.
The journal is managed by the Human Development and Capability Association (HDCA), an academic association established to promote research from many disciplines on key problems including poverty, justice, well-being, and economics.
Nobel winning economist Prof. Amartya Sen was the Founding President of HDCA (2004-06), and has been followed by Martha Nussbaum (2006-08), Frances Stewart (2008-09), Kaushik Basu (2009-2011) and currently by Sir Tony Atkinson.
HDCA promotes high quality research in the interconnected areas of human development and capability.
It is concerned with research in these areas across a broad range of topics where the human development and capability approaches have made and can make significant contributions, including the quality of life, poverty, justice, gender, development and environment inter alia. Dr. Adil Najam was elected a Fellow of the HDCA in 2010.
