Karachi: Saeed Ajmal, known for his unparallelled ‘Dosra’ and ”Teesra’ balls, has a huge fan following across the world.
But he himself is a die hard fan of Pakistani religious organization Dawat -e-Islami, devoted to preach Islam.
A trend of inclination towards religion has got much space in Pakistan’s cricket team where a large number of cricketers, both former and present, belong to another religious organization Tableegi Jamaat.
Tablighi Jamaat, which is considered to be backed by Deobandi school of thought, is a religious movement which was founded in 1926 by Muhammad Ilyas al-Kandhlawi in India, according to Wikipedia.
As compared to Jamaat, Dawat-e-Islami, founded in 1981, is run by scholars from Barelvi school of thought.
Saeed Ajmal, according to different sites belong to Dawat-e-Islami, participates regularly in religious sermons and gatherings of the organization within and outside the country.
Umer Akmal, a hard hitter of ball, also joins his friend Saeed such gatherings though they usually not speak in public.
