Colombo: Instead of a humiliating defeat by 16 runs against the host Sri Lankan side in the semi-final, the Pakistan cricket team captain Mohammad Hafeez said that he was proud that the team played semi-final of the Twenty20 World Cup 2012.
Talking to media, Hafeez said that every player of the team tried to give its best against Sri Lanka in the semi-final but unfortunately “we lost the match.”
“I am satisfied with the performances given by the team and players,” he added.
“Pakistani batsmen failed to form big partnerships and this caused us the damage in the semi-final,” he said adding that the Sri Lankan bowlers bowled well to restrict Pakistan before 140 runs.
Responding to the worst performance of star all-rounder Shahid Afridi in World Cup, Hafeez said that Afridi was passing through a bad patch and he would soon shut mouths of critics through his performance.
He further commented on the replacement of Razzaq withTanvir and said that the decision was made keeping in view the performance of Tanvir against Sri Lanka.
