London: Pakistan left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman is facing a two-year ban after he has failed a dope test in England.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in this regard, a local Urdu Pakistani daily Express, reported.
Being 32-year-old, it will be almost impossible for Abdur Rehman to return to the international cricket after he completes the ban.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the PCB is bound to accept the ban awarded by the ECB to the player.
Abdur Rehman is the 17th player worldwide and 3rd in Pakistan to have failed the dope test. Earlier, the dope tests of Mohammad Asif and Shoaib Akhtar were also tested positive.
The left-arm spinner has been left out of the Twenty20 squad in the ongoing World Cup, but is a permanent member of Pakistan’s Test and one-day squads.
Abdur Rehman has taken 81 wickets in 17 Tests, 21 in 25 ODIs and 11 in seven T20s.
