Mexico City: At least 11 people, including a soldier and a woman, have been killed as a result of troops’ clash with an armed group near a church in southern Mexico.
The Guerrero state prosecutor’s office says troops confronted the group in the town of Tepecoacuilco de Trujano, about 200 kilometres south of Mexico City, The Associated Press reported.
Ten bodies including a soldier were found after the fight. Two civilians were also injured in the shootout and, according to the report, they are likely to be kidnapped by the group.
It reports officials also confiscate weapons, vehicles and bags of marijuana.
