Islamabad: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday claimed that the attack on diplomatic enclave during protests against anti-Islam film was a conspiracy to topple the government in Pakistan.
Giving a briefing to media, Malik said that the army was summoned in order to protect the embassies in diplomatic enclave, after protestors crossed the barricades placed by Police and other law enforcement agencies.
The minister said that several protestors were apprehended during the protests and a high level investigation committee headed by IG Islamabad was formed in order to probe the matter.
“I will soon reveal about the hidden hands behind the protests,” he said adding that the elements of banned outfits and Taliban were also present in the protests.
