Dubai: After winning two successive T20 matches against Australia, the Pakistani batting line was toppled by the strong Australian pace attack in the 3rd Twenty20 played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium , Dubai, United Arab Emirates, restricting the hosts to 74 runs after chasing a target of 169 runs.
Although the Pakistani team has won the series against Kangaroos but the loss in the last match has caused Pakistan to move from No 4 to 6 at ICC ranking while Australia has been promoted to No 9 from No 10.
The Pakistan batting line from its beginning seemed to be uncomfortable against the Australian pace attack. Except Nasir Jamshed 17, Yasir Arafat 15 and Razzaq 13, other Pakistani batsmen failed to cross 10’s.
The Australian bowlers bowled extraordinary well to bowl out the long Pakistani batting line. Pat Cummins and Starc, who took three wickets, remained the leading wicket-takers for Australia accompanied by Watson, Maxwell and Hogg, who shared one wicket each.
Earlier, the Australian batsmen hit back hard on the Pakistani bowlers in the 3rd Twenty20, scoring 168 runs for the loss of seven wickets including 12 huge sixes.
David Warner 59 and Shane Watson 47 gave a brilliant start of 111 runs to the Kangaroos but except Maxwell 27, the other Australian batsmen failed to capitalize on a brilliant opening wicket partnership. The host team scored 168 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
Although the Pakistani bowlers were smashed hard in the early part of the innings but the bowlers successfully restrained the Kangaroos from scoring a huge target. Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal and Yasir Arafat shared two wickets while Raza Hasan took one wicket only.
The defeat against Australia has placed Pakistan on No 6, declining from No 4, while Australia has been promoted to No0 9 from No 10.
