Lahore: At least 25 people have been killed as fire broke out in shoe factory on Band road in Lahore on Tuesday.
According to reports, the fire engulfed the factory around 5:15. Rescue 1122 workers rescue the staff and recovered the bodies through breaking a backside wall of the factory.
Rescue sources said that Rajab, owner of the factory who hailed from Multan, was also burnt to death.
The bodies and injured were taken to Meo and Munshi Hospitals where medics were facing difficulties to identify the victims as they were badly charred. Rescue workers were busy in putting out the fire. They said that 20 bodies were shifted to Meo Hospital while five were taken to Munshi Hospital.
Media reports claimed that the factory was located at an illegal property and no arrangements were made to tackle such an incident.
