Lahore: A five-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) will hold proceedings against President Asif Ali Zardari for not surrendering his political office of PPP co-chairperson and performing political activities in the Presidency even after a LHC restraint order.
Headed by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, the would include Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh, Justice Sheikh Najamul Hasan, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah.
Former Chairman Senate and a noted lawyer, Wasim Sajjad will represent President Asif Ali Zardari in the case.
According to sources government officials have held legal consultations with Wasim Sajjad in reference to the case of the President holding two offices and it is most likely that the noted lawyer would defend the President in the LHC.
Earlier, Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique filed a petition against the president for holding the office and conducting political activities in violation of the LHC full bench order of May 12, 2011. He also moved an application on Tuesday seeking permission to make relevant documents part of the judicial record regarding the contempt petition against the president.
