Lahore: Jamaat ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed Thursday refuted sanctions placed by United States (US) Treasury on the eight members of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and said that the outfit will carry out processions against the decision.
Talking to media, Saeed said that placing sanctions on LeT and Jamaat-ud-Dawa was a routine practice of United States and it would not hurt the working of the organization.
“Those who were placed on the list have never visited United States,” the militant leader said adding that the sanctions were imposed in order to pressurise Pakistan.
Earlier, the United States (US) Thursday placed sanctions on eight Pakistanis allegedly working for Pakistan-based militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
The eight included Sajid Mir, a longtime LeT recruiter whom the US Treasury called the “project manager” for the November 2008 attacks that killed 166 people in Mumbai.
” Second on the list was Abdullah Mujahid, called LeT’s “senior paramilitary commander for Afghanistan” since around mid-2008.
The list also includes Ahmed Yaqub, called LeT’s chief for Bangladesh and Nepal operations; Hafiz Khalid Walid, who runs the LeT political bureau; Amir Hamza, a propagandist and central advisory committee member; Qari Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, head of the LeT ulema (clerics) wing; Abdullah Muntazir, called an LeT media official, and Talha Saeed, also in teacher and media relations for the group.
