San Francisco: Former CEO of Yahoo, Scott Thompson has been appointed as ShopRunner’s new CEO, an online service that provides two-day shipping from a variety of Internet retailers.
The announcement of the appointment of recently ousted Yahoo CEO came after two months after his short-lived tenure at Yahoo inc.
Yahoo ousted Thompson, 54, after issues were raised regarding his bachelors degree of Computer science. According to the details, a shareholder unfolded some misinformation about his official biography, which showed that he never received his bachelors’ degree, raising doubts about Thompson’s credibility led to his departure from Yahoo.
However, Yahoo replaced Thompson by long-time Google executive Marissa Mayer last week. She is the fifth CEO of Yahoo in the past five years.
Michael Golden, ShopRunner’s president hailed Thompson as the perfect long-term CEO and it seems that he has no issues over Thompson’s past record and troubles from which he went through.
At ShopRunner, Thompson will lead a privately held company and will be in connection with his former employers eBay inc, where he led eBay’s online payment service PayPal before joining in Yahoo in the beginning of this year.
