Karachi: Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan on Monday said that there is complete harmony between the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and other coalition partners.
Addressing a press briefing about his recent visit to Britain at the Governor House on Monday, he said that steps are being taken for eradication of extortion and maintenance of peace in Karachi.
He further said especial attention is being paid on K-4 and S-3 projects to overcome water shortages in the metropolis.
About his UK tour, the governor said that the purpose of his visit was to strengthen socio-economic and cultural relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, besides attracting foreign investment in power sector, water desalination, and solid waste management.
The governor said despite challenges faced by the country, the trend of foreign investment in Pakistan was a welcoming sign. He said over $2 billion investment in result of four memorandums of understanding signed in the UK will not only help in the development of the province, but it will also encourage foreign investment.
On the occasion, Federal Minister Senator Babar Khan Ghauri, Sindh Senior Minister Pir Mazharul Haq, Provincial Ministers Raza Haroon, Adil Siddiqui, Dr Saghir Ahmed, Commissioner Karachi Roshan Ali Shaikh, Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed, Chairman KPT Ahmed Kamal Hayat, MD Water Board Misbahuddin Farid and NED Vice Chancellor Eng Abul Kalam, among others, were present.
During his visit, the governor also met MQM chief Altaf Hussain along with ministers and briefed him about his visit.
During the press briefing, Minister for Ports and Shipping Senator Babar Khan Ghauri said that $1 billion investment will be made under the agreements relating to KPT and Port Qasim.
While Senior Minister Pir Mazharul Haq said that long lasting results will come out of the agreements made in the UK, and there will be development in energy, education, health and other fields.
