Islamabad: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday telephoned new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakheruddin G Ibrahim and congratulated him for holding the office.
According to the sources, President Zardari expressed hope that the new chief election commissioner will discharge his duty effectively.
Earlier the president had signed the summary of appointment of Ebrahim.A parliamentary committee of Pakistan People’s Party and its coalition partners in the federal government the Awami National Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement had agreed on his name after they discussed names for the post proposed by the main opposition party the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
