Islamabad: Malik Riaz, a central character in Arsalan Iftikhar case, has appointed Zahid Hussain Bukhari, solicitor of Hussain Haqqani in Memogate scandal, as his solicitor in the suo moto case taken up by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry against his son.
Talking to media Zahid Bukhari said that he would appear before the court on the behalf of Malik Riaz.
In the meanwhile Arsalan Iftikhar, son of Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, has appointed Sardar Ishaq advocate as his solicitor.
Earlier, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday began the hearing of of the suo motu notice of graft case involving son of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
The court recorded statements of Arsalan Iftikhar and others while Malik Riaz failed to appear before court and his companions said that he was out of country.
The bench has also summoned senior journalists Hamid Mir, Kamran Khan, Najam Sethi and Shaheen Sehbai in today’s hearing. The bench directed the journalists to produce all the material regarding the case in the court.
It is to be mentioned here, renowned journalist and Pakistan’s news group, The News, editor Shaheen Sehbai had claimed in a video that soon a scandal is likely to surface against the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhery’s son, Dr Arsalan Iftikhar.
Sehbai said that “CJ’s son was given up to Rs.400 million in a planned conspiracy. The conspiracy is now completed and can be brought to surface anytime.”
According to Shaheen Sehbai CJ’s son received millions of rupees plus sponsored foreign trips, during 2009, 2010 and 2011 to London, with credit cards to be used abroad for him and his family from a famous business tycoon of Pakistan, Malik Riaz, (named by Kamran Khan in his programme ‘Aaj Kamran Khan K Sath’).
