Peshawar: A petition challenging the sentence of Dr. Shakeel Afridi, a US spy involved in locating al Qaeda Chief Osama Bin Laden’s hideout in Abbottabad, has been filed at a commissioner’s court here.
The commissioner’s court will hear the petition on June 21.
Samiullah Advocate, the counsel for Dr. Afridi, has said that Legal Aid Welfare Organization had submitted the power of attorney on behalf of Dr. Shekeel Afridi.
Dr. Shakeel Afridi, accused of links to a militant group Lashkar-e-Islam, was awarded 33-year sentence by a court in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
