Islamabad: President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday has sent a reference to Speaker National Assembly Fehmida Mirza regarding the formation of a commission in order to form two new provinces in the Pakistan’s biggest province Punjab.
In a statement issued by Presidential Spokesman Farhat Ullah Babar, the reference was sent by Asif Zardari to Fehmida Mirza in order to form a commission which would gave its suggestion for the constitutional amendments regarding the formation of two new provinces, Seraiki and Bahawalpur, in Punjab.
“The commission would consist of six senators, six Parliamentarians of National Assembly and two members of Punjab Assembly,” it said adding that the Commission would complete its report within one month.
It is to be mention here that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani earlier indicated that the slogan for the formation of Seraiki province in Punjab was not a campaign for elections and it would be formed before elections.
