Karachi: The Ministry of Defence on Tuesday has temporarily imposed a ban on the operations of Bhoja Airline in Pakistan.
According to sources, air operative certificate of the airline has also been suspended.
The airline will be allowed to operate once it acquires at least three airplanes.
It is pertinent to mention here that it is mandatory under the law for any airline to have a minimum of three planes to start its full-fledged commercial operations in Pakistan.
On 20 April 2012, a Boeing 737-236 (AP-BKC), Bhoja Air Flight 213 carrying 127 people on a flight from Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport destined for Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport crashed near Chaklala killing all on board.
The aircraft was chartered on dry-lease from South African airline Comair and it had been acquired and placed in service by Bhoja Air in February 2012.
Minister for Interior A. Rehman Malik said on Sunday, the 22nd of April 2012 that all shareholders of the Airline, had been placed on the Exit Control List (ECL). However Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has clarified its license after re-checking of its aircraft.
Later on the flight operations were continued on different limited domestic routes particularly from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad with few aircrafts.
