Karachi: At least two people have been killed in parts of Karachi in firing incidents as Sindhi nationalists observe strike against the killing of Jiye Sindh Mutahida Mahaz (JSMM) leader and firing at a political rally.
“Two people were killed and three vehicles and buses torched,” police said on Wednesday.
According to the police, unidentified armed men open fired on a passenger bus in Quaidabad area, injuring three persons. However, one of them succumbed to his injures in a way to hospital.
A man was shot dead and another injured in a firing incident in Banaras area of Orangi Town. A bus was also set ablaze in Lee Market area early in the morning.
The strike is also being observed in Larkana, Sukkur, Thatta, Hala, Tando Allahyar Hyderabad and other cities in interior Sindh.
A complete strike is also being observed in Jamshoro, Pad Adin, Dadu, Juhi and Mehr while partial strike was observed in Hyderabad and other cities.
Examinations have been postponed in Karachi University, Shah Abdul Latif University, Sindh University and other institutions in the province in the wake of the strike.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Sunni Tehreek have also announced to support the strike.
