Bangalore: Chennai Super Kings, the underdogs, has defeated Mumbai Indians, the favorites, by 38 runs runs in the Eliminator 1 of Indian Premier League (IPL) played at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, India.
The Mumbai team, which started chasing the target of 188 runs in positive manner, failed to capitalize it, and ended their innings on 149 runs in 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Dwayne Smith who scored 38 runs was only Mumbai batsmen to cross 20’s while the other batsmen failed to capitalize on their starts.
The Chennai bowlers bowled exceptionally well and gave no chance to their opponents to score freely. The bowlers were able to take nine wickets in the inning. Morkel and Bravo who took two wickets remained the leading wicket-takers followed by Jakati, Hilfenhaus and Ashwin who shared one wicket each.
Earlier Chennai’s captain Dhoni played a blistering innings of 51 runs to help his team to score 187 runs.
