Chicago: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday announced an amount of $20 million aid for Afghanistan, in order to help the war-torn country to build itself and fight against the militants.
Addressing to the Nato Summit in Chicago, the president said that Pakistan is determine to eliminate terrorism from the region and he hoped that the Afghan forces would soon take control of the security of their country.
“Pakistan’s peace lies in the prosperity of Afghanistan,” he said.
The president said that Pakistani parliament has given authority to government in order to eliminate foreign militants from Pakistani territory.
“Salala attack has hurt Pakistan’s efforts in war against terror,” he said adding that Pakistani parliament has now given a road map to government in order to re-establish relations with United States (US) and Isaf.
“Pakistan wants to build relations with US on the basis of equality and mutual respect,” the president added.
Zardari further said that Pakistan wanted to boost trade in the region adding that the country would expand the Afghan transit trade to Tajikistan and other countries.
