Islamabad: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for water and power Syed Naveed Qamar has announced that government will not privatise Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and other electricity supplying companies.
Addressing at the convention of Labour Union in Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) on Monday, Qamar said that government would successfully resolve the electricity problem. He said that Wapda workers were helping the country to produce low-priced electricity, adding that if the workers did not want privatisation of Wapda than how it could be acceptable for the government.
The minister also announced a bonus for the workers of the electricity supply companies and said that workers would be provided representation in board of directors of the all the companies within one month.
He said that huge funds would be allocated for power sector in next budget.
