New York: Horst Faas, an Associated Press prize-winning photojournalist who covered the Vietnam War, has died on Thursday.
Fass was 79. His daughter, Clare Faas, confirmed his death.
The deceased was of German origin and covered much of the Vietnam War for AP. He taught many Vietnamese photographers as well.
He had four major prizes under his belt, including two Pultizer Prizes.
In Vietnam, he was injured in 1967.
“Horst was one of the great talents of our age, a brave photographer and a courageous editor who brought forth some of the most searing images of this century,” said AP Executive Editor Kathleen Carroll. “He was a stupendous colleague and a warm and generous friend.”
