Karachi: Looking steadfast against criticism over his age, Pakistan Cricket Team skipper Misbah ul Haq refuses to restrict himself to test cricket while announcing to continue all formats of cricket.
“I am willing to lead Green shirts in Twenty20 world cup to be held this year,” Misbah said in an interview.
“Blames of slow strike rate are not true, I play in accordance with game plan.”
Cricket analysts in Pakistan are advising Misbah to concentrate on Tests Cricket to strengthen his career as he is not suitable for fast-paced cricket format of Twenty20.
Star batsman looked shocking on decision of Bangladesh Cricket Board to restrain its team to visit Pakistan.
“I and other national cricketers used to pursue fellow cricketers whenever they are on a visit abraod,” Misbah claimed.
Disappointed on not getting chances in Indian Premier League, Pakistani skipper strongly in favor of holding Pakistan Premier League.
“The league would be an excellent platform for bringing international cricket back to Pakistan.”
“This would also give young players a place to show their performance as well as giving financial stability to the board.”
Turning 38 next month, Misbah, does not consider his age a ‘big matter’.
“When I debuted, people called me overage and predicted that there would be no room for me in international cricket.”
“With fine performance I have proved them all wrong and would do the same in the future.”
He says he wants to continue performing well in all formats of the cricket, but its up to selector who is the better choice for the team.
Replying to criticism over his slow strike rate, Misbah views I have led many won for the team proving that I am a good finisher.
These days Pakistan team is busy in training session for next series.
“After a long time, players have get about two months rest from the international cricket.”
“This is a crucial time and team should focus on its weaknesses specially in batting and fielding.”
Regarding his captaincy period, Misbah says he never had problem in leading the team.
“Every player feels his responsibility to perform well for the country and all credit goes to the collective efforts of the team on getting on winning track,” he added.
