Islamabad: A two-member bench of the Supreme Court has vacated a stay order, barring the announcement of the results of the elections of President FPCCI held on Dec 29.
The decision paved the way for President FPCCI (elect) Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani to become President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
According to the details, Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani bagged 130 out of 152 votes (95 per cent) in the elections for the President of FPCCI on Dec 29 last year.
Later, his opponents Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani took only 18 votes while Maqsood Ismail bagged 4 votes.
Later Mr. Raisani and Mr. Islail invoked High Courts in Quetta, Karachi and Islamabad to get announcement of results stayed.
All these stays were vacated after which the two business leaders challenged the decisions of High Courts in the Supreme Court through Abdul Hafiz Pirzada, Ali Ahmed Kurd and Athar Minallah advocates.
The FPCCI defended the case through its lawyers Baz Muhammad Khan Kakar and Khalid Jaweed Advocates.
Today, the two member bench of the Apex Court comprising Justice Jawad A Khawaja and Justice Mian Saqib Nisar rejected the plea and vacated the stay.
FPCCI has issued a notification in this regard.
