Jamshoro: Scholars and researchers lauded the role of Sufis on Monday in promotion of brotherhood in society and emphasized the learning of teaching of Sufism for catering need for the promotion of love, tolerance and peace in the society at a conference in the University of Sindh.
Organized by the Faculty of Islamic Studies University of Sindh in collaboration with Higher Education Commission Islamabad, a two-day national conference of Role of Sufis to International Religious Harmony and Tolerance is underway at Allama I.I. Kazi Campus Jamshoro.
The inaugural session was presided over by former student leader and newly elected Senator Aijiz Dhamrah while Dean Faculty of Sciences and In-charge Pro Vice Chancellor Sindh University Campus Dr. Muhammad Tahir Rajput was Chief Guest.
The scholars in their papers highlighted role of Sufi’s towards ideal society and urged that the efforts are needed to give due space that peace and love and tolerance in society can be created.
Mr. Dharmah lauded efforts made by the Sufis in Sindh and different parts of Country and world for the promotion of lover and brotherhood and said that people belongs to Sufism have done wonderful job to promote peace and love among the society.
He said that there is need to promote teachings of Sufis because they taught us to love humanity and to deal in difficult time with love and tolerance and avoid from intolerance.
He said that it is necessary that we must respect to other religions for the respect of our own religion and that would create realization of respect among followers of other religions.
He said that problems could not be solved with the intolerance but society can solve problems by following teachings of Islam and Sufism.
He said that there is dire need to study the life of sufi’s and Sufism and also scholars should do research for the promotion of message of the sufi’s and added that establishment of Sufi University at Bhitt Shah as announced by the President of Pakistan will surely play greater role in learning and conducting research on Sufism.
He advised the students to made change in their life and attitudes because no matter can be resolved with only confrontation or using political power but you can resolve their problems own with adopting abilities of Sufi’s.
Dr. Muhammad Tahir Rajput said that now Pakistan as well as other parts of the world has been facing a serious problem of extremism and intolerance whereas religious harmony and tolerance is the need of the day.
He said that the Sufi’s are the members of Muslim Community who try to become united with God, through prayers and mediation and by living a very simple and strict life and added that Sufi’s teaching is missions oriented and enjoys a high reputation and respect in public.
He said that Sufism is a science whose objective is the turning of hearts towards God and motivation for global peace and harmony.
Dr. Rajput said that Sindh is the Centre of Indus civilization and it is believed that it is one oldest civilization of the world and added that peace and brotherhood was the message of this civilization and was delivered through our honourable Sufi’s.
Dr. Sanaullah Bhutto Dean Faculty of Islamic Studies highlighted aims and objectives of the conference and said that due to problems face by the society, the conference was planned to discuss the issues of the society in light of intolerance and extremism and for the promotion of message of sufi’s.
He said that the conference is also aimed to promote the real face of Sufism in light of Islam. He said that scholars from Universities of all over Country has been participating and would present their papers. He said that about 25 scholars from various Universities have been invited and would be presenting papers in two day conference.
Key note speaker Dr. Muhammad Baqir Khaqwani from Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad, in his paper said that Sufi’s had played key role in spread- over message of Islam in world and their role remain unique that how they made possible their mission.
He said that Sufi’s of sub continent have also played important role for the promotion of love and brother hood and added that due role of Sufi’s the Muslims Governed by almost 1000 years even they were in minority. He said that when the Sufi’s an end playing their role the rule of the Muslims in sub continent was an ended.
He said that teaching of Tasawwuf was created by Muslim scholars and added that no Sufism is in any other religion and Sufis only belongs to the Muslims. He said that teaching of Tasawwuf is in the light of Holy Quran and Sunnah.
He said that Sufi’s promoted Islam through Madaris and they rendered great services for the humanity and they increased believers of Islam and promoted message of Tasawwuf.
He said that main objectives of the Sufis’ in their lives was to promote Islam.
In first working session delivering paper Professor Dr. Ahmed Jan Alazhari from International Islamic University Islamabad said that through education of Tasawwuf the people were reformed and they were educated for the betterment of humanity.
He said that Sufi’s played key role for the promotion of Islam and they rendered their services for the spreading over of Islam in various parts of world.
He said that Tasawwuf has played very important part in identifying human deficiencies and also for betterment of the society. He said that Muslim entered from Sindh and they spread over to sub continent and promoted Islam.
He said that in spreading over the Islam the Sufi’s had played very important role and they developed their sittings at various parts.
In his paper Dr. Ikramul Haq Alazhari from International Islamic University Islamabad said that in eyes of Muslims, the Tasawwuf and Sufism was created in 3rd or 4th century and they live life in a simple way.
He lauded role of sufi’s in promotion of teaching of Islam and for the promotion of peace, love and brother hood among the humanity.
Among other scholars Prof. Dr. Mahmoodul Hassan Arif, Dr. Abdul Haee Abro, Dr. Salahuddin Sani, Dr. S.M. Saeed, Dr. Muhammad Ikram Rana, Dr. Abdul Raoof Zafar , Dr. Anwar Figar Hakro, Muhammad Ferozuddin Shah Khaga, Dr. Abdul Razak Ghangro, Prof. Muhammad Ibraheem Muhammadi also presented their papers and highlighted role of Sufi’s in promotion of peace, love and brotherhood and unity among the human being. The national Conference would continue and three sessions including concluding session would be held on Tuesday.
