Lahore: Trade of cement has resumed on Monday between Pakistan and India after the opening of Attari-Wagah joint check post and Indian traders have started giving orders to Pakistani cement companies.
According to ministry of trade officials, cement export via Wagah border had been allowed and Pakistan would start exporting cement to India through trucks.
After the trade resumption, Indian traders placed orders of cement to Pakistani industries, sources said, adding that cement production is in surplus in Pakistan and due to million-ton cement export to India yearly, factories closed plants would again start production.
Earlier, Pakistan Trade Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim and Indian Commerce Minister Anand Sharma agreed to take all further action to encourage greater trade through the newly inaugurated Integrated Checkpost (ICP).
