Lahore: Unites States Special Representative to Pakistan and Afghanistan Robin Raphel called on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Mian Nawaz Sharif and discussed with issues related to bilateral relations and mutual interest, said a statement issued here on Saturday.
According to the statement, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and US Consulate General Tina Fite were also present during the meeting.
The meeting came two days after Pakistani parliament unanimously approved new guidelines for relations with the United States, prepared by a bipartisan 11-member committee.
The parliament called for immediate halt in US attacks on Pakistani soil. However, media reports said that the US would continue to ignore the demand as it had been doing in the past.
Pakistan security officials are of the view that it would now be difficult for the government to allow the US to continue CIA drone strikes.
