Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee said that six lac ton urea fertiliser would be imported for Kharif season at Rs904 per sack, and a subsidy of Rs15.6 billion would be provided by the government in this regard.
According to ECC, the government has already approved the import of three lac ton urea, from which 1.5 lac of urea would be imported through Gwadar and government would bear the extra cost for it.
According to sources, the urea fertiliser would be imported Through Saudi Arabia. The total urea required for Kharif season is 27 lac ton, however, due to gas shortage only 17 lac ton of it can be prepared. Four lac ton urea would be transferred to Kharif from Rabi season and the remaining six lac ton would be imported.
Government would provide Rs1699 subsidy on every sack which would make a sack cost Rs1304.
