Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the youth should strive for changing the existing system which is stinking with corruption, loot and commission and build a new Pakistan based on honesty, hard work and merit.
Addressing to a laptops distribution ceremony at University of Engineering & Technology Lahore Shahbaz said that there was a need for bringing about a revolution to make Pakistan worth-living for the common man. He said that the students should utilize laptops as an instrument for the construction of a strong and prosperous Pakistan in the light of the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.
Advisor to CM Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz, Special Assistant Khawaja Salman Rafique, Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Member National Assembly Ahsan Iqbal, Members National and Provincial Assembly, educationists, teachers, parents and a large number of students were present.
The Chief Minister said that young generation is the guarantee to a glorious future of the country and Punjab government has taken unprecedented measures for equipping it with modern knowledge in view of its key role in national development.
He said that besides helping in meeting financial expenses of students and establishment of computer labs in schools and setting up of Daanish schools, talented students are also being given laptops on merit for their encouragement.
“Laptops are an acknowledgement of the hard work, talent and merit of these students,” he added.
The CM Punjab stressed upon students to explore new worlds through hard work and research and take Pakistan to the heights of progress and development. He said that credits goes to Punjab government which has presented guard of honour to brilliant students and thereby honoured the future of the nation. He said that brilliant students are encouraged through inviting them to Governor House Murree. He said that if encouragement of talented students is a crime he will continue to commit this crime again and again.
He said that he has never received guard of honour from police nor hoisted national flag on his car as he believes that he is ‘Khadim’ of the people and has been selected by the masses for their service. He said that he will continue to serve the masses in education, health and other sectors.
On the occasion PML-N Leader and Member National Assembly Ahsan Iqbal said that Punjab government is striving for promotion of education and setting of a modern society. Vice Chancellor Engineering University, Muhammad Akram in his welcome address said that 6585 students are being given laptops while 900 students will receive laptops in the next phase.
