Lahore: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Sunday said that it was mis-perception that government helped Hussain Haqani, former Pakistani ambassador to US, to escape from Pakistan.
Talking to media in Lahore, Gilani said that government placed name of Haqqani on Exit Control List (ECL) but it was courts that allowed former ambassador to go outside Pakistan.
“There should be no political wing in ISI,” he said.
The prime minister said that India and US should provide evidence against Hafiz Saeed, leader of banned outfit Jamat-ud-Dawa,adding that Pakistan would take suitable action after the production of proofs.
“Pakistan and India’s Interior secretary negotiations would be held on April 16 in Islamabad,” he said adding that they would also discuss regarding Saeed’s case.
Gillani said that US also wanted better relations between Pakistan-India adding that China also urged Pakistan to carry out trade with India.
Gilani termed President Zardari’s visit to India as a successful visit and said that it was in the interest of both countries to maintain peace among themselves.
Gilani further expressed sorrow on the tragic incident of Siachen and said that government would perform all possible efforts in order to save the soldiers.
