Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday ordered that Faryal (Rinkle Kumari) and Hafsa ( Lata Kumari) be kept in a shelter home in Karachi till the next hearing to be held on April 18.
The orders came amid uproar by the relatives of the girls who recently converted to Islam and married Muslim boys. The relatives (Hindus) said that the girls be handed over to them.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said the girls were daughters of the nation and be kept for some days at a neutral venue so that they could decide whether they wanted to live with their husbands or not.
The SC ruled that there was no doubt that the girls embraced Islam and got married and had been living with their husbands.
