Islamabad: The Memo Commission has rejected a plea filed by Pakistan’s former ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani, seeking that his testimony be recorded through video-link, before adjourning the hearing to Tuesday.
The commission met under the chairmanship of Qazi Faez Esa here on Monday. Commission asked Zahid Bukhari, counsel for Haqqani, as to why his client didn’t appear before the commission despite he was summoned today.
Bukhari told that Haqqani had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the commission orders of summoning him. He said his cleint wanted that his testimony be recorded through video link.
He said that Haqqani was facing life threat due to Mansoor Ijaz’s links with several intelligence agencies.
The commission chairman rejected the plea and remarked that the statement could not be recorded through video link and Haqqani be produced before the commission.
