Gwadar: There is a fear of Baloch separatists and Frontier Constabulary in Makran division of Balochistan Province yet locals simultaneously have tendency to like former president Pervez Musharraf and Pakistan Muslim League president Nawaz Sharif.
Markan Division is comprised of many Balochistan cities including Gwadar, Turbat and Punjgoor.
A survey of the area by a local newspaper revealed that residents of port city of Gwadar and Turbat have soft corner for Musharraf over initiating projects like Gwadar Port, roads network and others. But at the same time they dislike his involvement in killing of Baloch Lord Akber Khan Bugti.
Bugti was killed in an alleged operation, while some says he committed suicide in his cave in Kohlu, about 150 miles east of Quetta, leading to widespread unrest in the area.
According to survey, after completion of Gwadar port an investment of around Rs. 20 billion has been made in Gwadar city making it a city on road of development.
At the same time, political and nationalists parties in Balochistan have nothing but hatred for the former president.
“I hate Pervez Musharraf,” categorically noted Dr. Abdul Malik, a nationalist leader in Turbat.
When his attention was drawn towards soft corner for Pervez Musharraf in area people he had to say that “I am not a common man but spokesperson for my party.”
Similarly, locals are hopeful that if Mian Nawaz Sharif is elected in next elections then pending projects particularly road network in Gwadar, Turbat and Punjgoor would be completed.
“These projects would a tool to remove grievances prevailing in the area from last so many years.”
