Sanaa: The death toll of Yemeni soldiers reached to 100 in an attack on army encampment by Islamist militants on Sunday near the city of Zinjibar, media reported on Monday.
According to media reports, dozens of soldiers were killed in the battle at an army post in southern Yemen and 50 were taken prisoner. At least 28 militants were also reportedly killed.
The military leaders of Yemen met in Sanaa to discuss plans for a counter-attack.
On Sunday, at least two suicide bombers detonated cars close to the post, and other militants then mounted mortar attacks in a major escalation in the conflict in the south.
