New Delhi: Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on Thursday applauded the elimination of negative list for India by Pakistan and said that it would strengthen the relationship between both the countries.
Talking to media in New Delhi, Krishna said that the elimination of negative list was a better decision in terms of prospering relations between the two countries.
Krishna further said that Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar had assured him that India would be declared as Most Favorite Nation (MFN) at the end of the year.
Pakistan’s federal cabinet on Wednesday approved a roadmap to normalize trade with India by gradually eliminating the list containing 1209 negative items till December 31. The cabinet granted the approval of removing negative list for India with effect from December 31, 2012.
The approval was given in light of the decision giving India the MFN status for trade.
