Dhaka: The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) authorities have returned the passports of two Pakistani players Nasir Jamshed and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, currently participating in the league there, the move coming on heels of the earlier arrest of a Pakistani citizen who is seen as a prime suspect in the spot-fixing activities that are being witnessed at the matches.
Source said that the latest development was due to approach by Pakistan Cricket Board to its Bangladeshi counterparts to resolve the issue.
“Yes, we are in contact with the Bangladesh Board officials as we are concerned about our players participating in the tournament. We want to keep a track of the situation,” a PCB official said.
Security expert hired by Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Governing Council quizzed both the players after some documents cell phone numbers was found at the hands of Pakistani resident Sajid Khan who was detained on Sunday night for his susceptive involvement in spot-fixing in BPL.
On Tuesday, the BCB press release said: A foreign national has been detained by the police for alleged suspicious movement during BPL matches. BCB security and BPL officials had observed some dubious activities of a Pakistani national near the Players’ Enclosure and VIP Grand Stand of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday (26 Feb.) which raised serious concerns. He was taken for questioning and later handed over to the law enforcers.
