Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday took up an application filed by Mohajir Qaumi Movemnet-Haqiqi (MQM-H) chairman Afaq Ahmed, seeking contempt of court proceeding against Sindh government for not implementing apex court orders into Karachi target killing case.
A three-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhamamd Chaudhry was hearing the case. Afaq Ahmed appeared before the bench. .
The CJ said the contempt of court proceeding is initiate when any final decision is not implement while the SC had not given final decision in the case.
The CJ said the apex court had taken suo motu notice of the situation in Karachi and did not fix responsibility.
Ahmed said he had given two applications regarding no-go-areas in Karachi but to no avail.
The CJ said the Sindh High Court chief justice was looking into matter. “We send your application to Sindh High Court,” the CJ said.
