Islamabad: Amid soaring tension between the military and civilian government in Pakistan, the U.S. and UK on Wednesday said that they support supremacy of constitution and democracy in Pakistan.
As the tension between the powerful Pakistan Army and the civilian government has boiled up, the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad in a statement said that the U.S. support supremacy of constitution and democracy in Pakistan.
However, the spokesman made it clear that U.S. would not interfere in the internal affairs of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the UK High Commission in Islamabad said that UK supported democracy and constitutionalism in Pakistan. Adam Thomson, UK High Commissioner in Islamabad, said that UK had no stance about memogate case and Hussain Haqani’s issue as it was the internal matter of Pakistan.
