Islamabad: Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfand Yar Wali Khan has strongly condemned the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for what he said bringing resolution in the National Assembly for carving out new provinces in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Talking to media outside the Parliament House after a stormy session in National Assembly, he said that the Karachi-based party was seeking new provinces in those areas where even it was not able to win a seat of counselor.
He said that the MQM wanted to pit Pakhtuns against each other, adding that the MQM resolution was aimed at scoring political points.
The ANP chief said he was not an opponent of new provinces but it would need two-third majority in the concerning provincial assemblies.
Asfand Yar Wali said that he was aware of MQM’s final target which it wanted to achieve. He said he would not let the MQM to succeed in achieving the final target.
