Karachi: Pakistani hockey team won the second match of ’Friendship Series’ on Thursday by beating China 5-3 at Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium, in Karachi.
Forwards Waqas Sharif (23, 56 minutes) and Haseem Khan (14, 28 minutes) hit two goals each with Ali Shah (54th minute) netting once to lead Pakistan’s fight-back after China dominated initial play with two goals by the 11th minute.
Pakistan won the first match 3-0 on Wednesday in Karachi, in the first international hockey hosted by Pakistan in seven years.
China gained the lead in the third minute when striker Dong Yang scored off the
first penalty corner.
Liu Xiang Tang made the lead double in the 11th minute when he sneaked past Pakistan’s defence to score a field goal, much to the shock of Pakistan.
The national team will play the third match in Faisalabad on December 24 and Lahore on December 25.
