London: Star footballer David Beckham has agreed to join Paris St Germain and will be heading to the French capital in January, after his contract with LA Galaxy ends on Dec 31, according to reports.
Following four months of negotiation, the English midfielder has approved a year-and-a-half long contract with France’s richest club, Le Parisien newspaper revealed.
The 36-year-old footballer will earn an after-tax salary of 800,000 euros a month, which comes to 4.5 million euros over 18 months.
The multi-million pounds package will include a new home in the Paris area for Beckham’s family, and school places for his three sons.
Wife, Victoria, is said to be very happy about the move, and will relocate to France, together with the couple’s six month old baby daughter, Harper.
A club insider said that PSG’s new owners, Qatar Sport Investments, have the immense wealth of the Gulf emirate behind them, and have reportedly offered the Beckhams “anything they want” in emigrating from the USA.
Victoria is claimed to have visited the French capital to look at apartments to rent in the city, and at family homes on the outskirts.
