Karachi: Mohajir Qaumi Movement – Haqiqi(MQM) chief Afaq Ahmed has been released from Karachi Central Jail.
A large number of party workers were present outside the prison to welcome their leader, holding party flags and chanting slogans.
The Sindh High Court (SHC) had ordered Ahmed’s immediate release declaring the order of his detention under the public order law as illegal.
Ahmed, who was arrested on April 3, 2004, had been granted bail in the last of the cases against him by the SHC.
Police and Rangers officials were deployed for his security to shift him to his residence.
