Karachi: A Large number of people, including students, civil society members and artists hold a walk to celebrate   Pakistan-China friend ship here on Tuesday.

The walk was arranged by Pak-China Foundation in collaboration with the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) at Sea View.

The participants were waving flags of Pakistan and China and chanting slogans of Pakistan China friendship Zindabad. Long live Pakistan-China. Senior film and TV actress and director Zaiba Bakhtiar also attended the walk.

The participants, especially school children were singing songs related to Pak-China friendship.

Pakistan has a long and strong relationship with China. The long-standing ties between the two countries have been mutually supportive. Since the 1962 Sino-Indian War, Pakistan has supported China on most issues of importance to the latter, especially those related to the question of China’s sovereignty like Taiwan, Xinjiang, and Tibet and other sensitive issues such as human rights

China also has a consistent record of supporting Pakistan in regional issues. During the Pakistan-Indian tensions in 2008, it implied that it would support Pakistan in the event of a war. Pakistan’s military depends heavily on Chinese armaments, and joint projects of both economic and militaristic importance are ongoing. China has supplied equipment to support Pakistan’s nuclear program, and has provided nuclear technology to Pakistan.

Recently Pakistan has equipped its air force with JF-17 Thunder (Joint Fighter)   jointly produced by Pakistan and China.
