Karachi: Second lunar eclipse of the year 2011 will occur on Saturday, December 10.
According to Nasa’s website partial eclipse will start exactly at universal time 12:45:42.
The metrological department says a lunar eclipse will be visible in Pakistan between 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The totality will last 51 minutes.
Astronomists said that despite all awareness and advancement of modern science, there is still a misconception among the public that watching the lunar eclipse could be harmful.
“We receive so many calls about this issue. I would once again try to reiterate that it is perfectly fine to watch the lunar eclipse through the naked eye and it is safe for everyone including pregnant women to watch the event,” they added.
This would be the last total lunar eclipse of the year and there won’t be another one for three years.
