Islamabad: Newly appointed Pakistan Ambassador to US Sherry Rehman has said that she would fulfill her responsibilities as envoy appropriately.
In her first interaction with media after her appointment by the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, the liberal lawmaker said that she would protect the country’s interests keeping in view national integrity and sovereignty.
Mr, Rehman said that Pakistan rendered great sacrifices in war against terrorism and the sacrifices should not be wasted. She said that Pakistan was facing several challenges
To a question, she said that Hussain Haqqani resigned from his post honourably. She added that Islamabad’s relations with the United States were not strained.
Sources said that she held a meeting with former ambassador Husssain Haqqani earlier today.
