Islamabad: Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan is going to meet the father of Pakistan nuclear programme Dr A Q Khan on Tuesday, in a bid to offset the impression that the PTI had refused him to welcome into its fold.
Sources in PTI said that Imran Khan would be meeting the nuclear scientist, who enjoyed the status of a national hero in Pakistan despite the nuclear proliferation allegations, on Monday. Recently, Dr A Q Khan has underrated PTI saying that the PTI don’t have an experienced team to bring a major change in the country. Following the statement, the PTI supporters have launched smear campaign against the national hero, saying that he was not welcomed in PTI, therefore, he criticized the party. Fully aware of the popularity DR Khan is enjoying among people, the PTI leadership has step in to offset the impression.
Though the nuclear scientist in a statement said he respects Imran Khan, the PTI chief would try to remove the ‘misunderstandings’ between them.
Though there are reports that the A Q Khan would join PTI, well placed sources told The News Tribe that Dr Khan would not announce his joining the PTI during the meeting.
It is to be mentioned here that renowned journalist and anchorperson Dr Shahid Masood in his recent FB comments says, “ Justice Wajihuddin forced out” And next he also said “I tried my best to take him(Justice Wajih uddin) on phone yesterday in my show…he refused politely and said something off the record..but I am more upset about Dr A Q Khan…he almost joined PTI…media was alert last week for the press conference…but something went wrong…”
