Bulawayo: Debutant Doug Bracewell and former skipper Daniel Vettori produced some fine bowling on Saturday to lead New Zealand to a 34-run victory against Zimbabwe in the only test of the tour.
Needing 366 runs to win, Zimbabwe had been in a strong position when Taylor and Taibu were together at the crease. But the departure of Taylor (117) at 265 triggered a collapse. Taibu, who scored 63, was removed by Vettori at 287.
Waller offered some resistance and made 29 but he too was outdone by Vettori. Bracewell had already got the wickets of Chakabva, Ncube and Price. The last wicket of Mpofu was claimed by Vettori at 331. Bracewell took five wickets and Vettori three.
New Zealand made 426 in their first innings and declared the second innings at 252. Zimbabwe scored 313 in their first innings.
Vettori was declared man of the match for taking eight wickets in the match.
