Muzaffarabad: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday joined Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government.
As per detail, MQM Parliamentary Leader Muhammad Tahir Khohkar took oath as minister.
President AJK Sardar Yaqoob Khan administered the oath of office to Khokhar during a simple ceremony here at President House. The MQM is already in government in centre and Sindh province as a coalition partner of the PPP.
MQM has two members in the AJK Legislative Assembly, who have been elected from Kashmiri immigrants’ seats in Karachi. The postponement of elections on these seat compelled MQM to quit the PPP-led coalition government in June. However, the MQM rejoined the government on October 5. 2001.
