Karachi: The Sindh government on Saturday lifted ban on rallies for two days in Karachi to allow the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to take out rally in support of President Asif Ali Zardari.
According to a notification issued by the home department, the ban has been withdrawn for two days , October 29 and 30 and the ban would come into effect on October 31.
Recently, the government imposed ban on rallies and holding public meetings under Section 144. The ban was imposed keeping in view the deteriorating law and order situation of the metropolis.
MQM chief Alataf Hussain on Sunday announced to hold rally against Shahbaz Sharif for what he said passing derogatory remarks about Zardari in the PML-N rally in Lahore.
Zardari has ordered the PPP workers to participate in the MQM’s rally.
MQM leader Wasay Jalil said that the government will give the party a ‘relaxation’ for its event. He told media that MQM chief Altaf Hussain is scheduled to address party workers at 5 pm today via telephone, while the rally will take place at Tibet Centre on Sunday at 2 pm.
