Islamabad: An 18-day courses on “Local Reporting” and “Training for Trainers” organized by Radio Pakistan in collaboration with Duetche Welle (Voice of Germany) concluded here at National Broadcasting House, PBC Headquarters, Friday.
The courses, attended by 24 journalists, producers, and engineers from all over the country, were conducted by senior experts from the Deutche Welle Akademie, including Jutta Vom Hofe, Marc Seidel and Florian Weigand.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General of Radio Pakistan Murtaza Solangi said PBC has been greatly focusing on human resource development in the department. “We might have financial constraints, but are highly rich in human resources and continue to further develop it in collaboration with international partners like Deutche Welle and Japan International Cooperation Agency,” he assured.
He said the training courses organized by the Deutsche Welle in the past are bearing fruit and those who got training have shown tremendous improvement in their work which is visible in different Radio Pakistan programmes.
Murtaza Solangi said Radio Pakistan is no longer an analogue organization but has transformed into a modern multimedia company using all the modern tools including social media for the transmission and dissemination of information to the people. He said Radio Pakistan broadcasts are now available on 100 million cellular phones in the country. Our bilingual website is one of the best among state organizations in the country, he added.
DW trainers Marc Siedel and Florion Weigand said Pakistan is still a “Radio country” with population of the remote areas relying heavily on Radio Pakistan to get information and entertainment. “There is no parallel of Radio in the events of natural calamities like earthquake and floods, as has been seen in the country in recent times,” they added.
They highly appreciated the friendly behaviour of the Pakistani people right from airport to everywhere in the country. “We are taking back with us ‘smiles’ that we found everywhere,” they remarked.
